#LABIxSuperres2024

As a hallmark of 2024, LABI Meeting and the Fluorescence Nanoscopy in Bioimaging Congress 2024 (FNB) join from August 19th to 23rd at the auditorium of Fundação Coppetec, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where members of both communities come together to share experiences, align interests, and integrate efforts.

We were privileged to host the annual meetings with the support of Centro Nacional de Biologia Estrutural e Bioimagem (CENABIO) and the Sociedade Brasileira de Microscopia e Microanálise (SBMM). The LABI Meeting took place from August 19th to 21st, followed by the FNB Meeting from August 21st to 23rd. We had an opening ceremony on August 18th at Museu da Amanha, and in August 21, all participants had the opportunity to visit CENABIO and an outreach activity organized by LABI working group Outreach & Integration and EducaCiencia.

This five-day event offered a unique platform for networking and collaboration, providing opportunities to engage with decision makers in research infrastructure investment. The academic focus of Superres allowed the exchange of knowledge of cutting-edge research in fluorescence and imaging. In addition, there was dedicated sessions for discussions on LABI governance and strategic partnerships to foster long term sustainability.

We look forward to welcoming you on LABI Meeting 2025 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

During the last two decades, facility management has developed as a new career opportunity for scientists in numerous public research institutes and universities around the globe.

However, a clear curriculum or educational program for facility staff is still missing in most places. The Global BioImaging network aims at addressing this gap by either organising or promoting training courses for imaging core facility staff, with particular reference on the subjects of facility management and image data tools.

This workshop is designed to provide training on cryo-electron tomography, covering from sample preparation to advanced data processing. Attendees will benefit from expert-led sessions and hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment.

Applicants should be able to utilize their newly acquired knowledge in their projects, having access to the necessary instruments or the prospect of applying to one of the facilities. Applications containing this information will be reviewed, and candidates will be informed of their application status by email.
